Son of Michael Collopy Patrick was born around 1853 in Limerick. When he was 20 years old he joined the South Lancashire Regiment in Limerick on the 5th July 1875 He was then described as dark haired blue eyed and 5ft 7 inches tall. He was soon sent to India where he landed on the 19th December 1875. In 1881 he was married to a Susanna Collins, a spinster, at Kingnsnorth Parish Church in Kent. For some time he worked on the ferries from Dover to France. On 28th May 1915 he re-entered he army giving as his occupation 'soap maker'. He was finally discharged 15th October 1916 after a futher 1 year and 142 days of service. In the last years of his life he was admitted to the Lord Daresbury Hospital in Warrington where he died on May 1st 1919 aged 74. Thanks to Brenda Massey GR |
